Queen Charlotte, who served as Queen Consort from 1761 until her passing in 1818, was deeply admired for her warm nature, intellect, and patronage of the arts. She and King George III had fifteen children, including two future kings, and her influence extended far beyond the royal court. A passionate botanist, Queen Charlotte played a significant role in developing Kew Gardens into a world-renowned botanical haven. Additionally, her festive spirit introduced Britain to the Christmas tree tradition in 1800, adorning a tree for a children's celebration at Windsor—a tradition that endures to this day. This special collection invites you to savour both fine tea and a piece of royal history.
