Chai Tea BBQ Sauce Recipe

This summer we are bringing you a collection of tea inspired recipes to give you some fun and exciting ways to incorporate your favourite tea flavours into some tasty treats.

Why Chai

Some marinades and sauces often use coffee or espresso to infuse extra flavour, so we thought what better than our authentic, rich and warming Masala Chai to pack a punch to your summer bbq sauce.

Golden spoon resting next to a small pile of Masala Chai black tea leaves with chunks of warming Indian spices

This Great Taste award-winning loose leaf tea balances bold Assam leaves with traditionally grown Indian spices, including ginger, cinnamon, green cardamom and cloves, that bring a distinct flavour profile to dishes. The warm spices accompanied by the sweet and spicy chai are a perfect balance for topping burgers, grilled fish and more.

For a sweeter and fruiter flavour, Chai of Madagascar imparts a sweeter spicy aroma, with notes of orange with cacao and vanilla pieces.

Ingredients

 3/4 cup Tomato Sauce
10g Masala Chai Loose Leaf Tea
200ml Water
2tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1tbsp apple cider vinegar
1tsp red pepper flakes
1tsp djion mustard
1tsp garlic powder
1tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp salt
